SAINT JOHN CLIMACUS

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."  Romans 8:38-39, Bible

SAINT JOHN CLIMACUS - Confessor, abbot, born Syria   (525; died on Mount Sinai, 605)… . The name Climacus was given to him from the title of his book "The Ladder (Climax) of Paradise," but he is also known as Scholasticus, or the Sinaita. He lived for many years as a solitary at the foot of Mount Sinai, and in 600 acceded to the request of the monks on Sinai to rule them as abbot, resigning this charge after four years. Emblem: a ladder. Feast, 30 March…

Although his education and learning fitted him to live in an intellectual environment, he chose, while still young, to abandon the world for a life of solitude. The region of Mount Sanai was then celebrated for the holiness of the monks who inhabited it; he betook himself thither and trained himself to the practice of the Christian virtues under the direction of a monk named Martyrius. After the death of Martyrius John, wishing to practise greater mortifications, withdrew to a hermitage at the foot of the mountain. In this isolation he lived for some twenty years, constantly studying the lives of the saints and thus becoming one of the most learned doctors of the Church…

In 600, when he was about seventy-five years of age, the monks of Sinai persuaded him to put himself at their head. He acquitted himself of his functions as abbot with the greatest wisdom, and his reputation spread so far that Pope Saint Gregory the Great wrote to recommend himself to his prayers, and sent him a sum of money for the hospital of Sinai, in which the pilgrims were wont to lodge. Four years later he resigned his charge and returned to his hermitage to prepare for death….

The Ladder of Divine Ascent Monastery of St Catherine Sinai ...

Of John's literary output we know only  Ladder of Divine Ascent, composed at the request of John, Abbot of Raithu, a monastery situated on the shores of the Red Sea, and a shorter work To the Pastor...

SAINT JOHN CLIMACUS accumulated spiritual and ascetic traditions of Egyptian monasteries. He is the author of "The Ladder" (options - Ladder of Paradise, Tablet of the spiritual). The book is written in the middle of the VI century, at the request of John, abbot of the monastery : "We teach the ignorant that you saw in bogovidenii, like the ancient Moses, and on the same hill, and laid it in the book, as bogopisannyh tables, for the edification new Israel "... Here's a guide to moral self-improvement. The image of the "Ladder" is borrowed from the Bible, which describes the vision of Jacob's ladder on which angels ascend (Genesis 28: 12). .. The writing belongs to the category of ascetic literature...

John also wrote the book "To the shepherd," the responsibilities of pastors…

Landscape with the Dream of Jacob

"He had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven ; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it... And behold, the LORD stood above it and said, "I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac ; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants..."Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south ; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed... "Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land ; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you."Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it"..." Genesis 28:12-16, Bible
The Holy Fathers and the saints have had a lot to say about vainglory.  St. John Climacus, Orthodox monk, ascetic and abbot of St. Catherine’s Monastery at Mt. Sinai, wrote a book that to this day remains one of the most widely read works on the spiritual life and the taming of the passions.  The Ladder of Divine Ascent was originally written for monastics, but has become hugely popular with the laity – those in the world who are trying to live a fully realized, God-pleasing faith.   St. John uses the image of climbing the rungs or steps of a ladder as an upward – heavenward- movement in one’s spiritual life…

God is love - bringing you a gift of love

     Šv. Jonas Climacus

The Image of God (ABBA)

“I desire a picture that may be a tangible sign of My Presence…”   ( Messages from God the Father - transferred Mother Eugenia Elisabetta Ravasio)

“Look, I put aside my crown and all my glory to take the attitude of the common person” …

After having taken the attitude of a common person, placing his crown and glory at his feet, he took the globe of the world to his heart. Supporting it with his left hand, then he sat down next to me...( Mother Eugenia Elisabetta Ravasio... In her book, Mother Ravasio wrote that she personally saw God the Father and that God the Father sat next to her. On July 1, 1932, in Book 1, part 1, she quoted God the Father and wrote)...
Mother Ravasio reported a series of messages from God the Father, which were published as "The Father speaks to His children"

Mother Eugenia E. Ravasio: “The father speaks to his children”

Mother Eugenia Elisabetta Ravasio (San Gervasio d’Adda, 4 September 1907 – 10 August 1990) was an Italian nun, visionary and mystic, from the Roman Catholic Church… She received only an elementary education. After a few years working in a factory, she entered the Congregation of Our Lady of the Apostles at the age of 20 years. It was here that her great charismatic personality developed, leading to her election as Mother General of the Congregation at the age of only 28…

This is the second image of God ...  as proof - that human, "his crown" must be placed on the ground ...only if it finds the relationship with the Supreme ...

God also showed how to do, to talk to people ...God cares about Human - a simple Human ... no wealth, no crown ... God himself sat down to a simple Human ...

Why this Picture is not visible in places of worship, churches? .. Why not talk about this Picture of God's?..  Why is this scary picture of God's servants on earth?..

Did they find it difficult to take off their crowns before the Human   ???

Or maybe earthly servants  does not recognize God's  ???

After all, they does not recognize of Jesus, the Son of God:

" Pilate came out again and said to them, "Behold, I am bringing Him out to you so that you may know that I find no guilt in Him."... Jesus then came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, "Behold, the Man !"...So when the chief priests and the officers saw Him, they cried out saying, "Crucify, crucify !" Pilate said to them, "Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I find no guilt in Him.".." John 19:4-6, Bible

              Dievo paveikslas ( ABBA)

“Aš trokštu paveikslo, kuris gali būti apčiuopiamu ženklu Mano Buvimo …” (Žinutė  nuo Dievo Tėvo  - perduota  Motinai  Eugenia Elisabetta Ravasio)

(Motinos Eugenijos Elisabetos Ravasijo pirmas sąsiuvinis, 1932 liepos 1)...

"DIEVAS TĖVAS KALBA SAVO VAIKAMS"   Motina Eugenija Elisabeta Ravasijo

... Jį pamatę, aukštieji kunigai ir tarnai pradėjo šaukti: 'Nukryžiuok Jį, nukryžiuok!' Pilotas jiems sako: 'Jūs imkite Jį ir nukryžiuokite! Aš nerandu Jame jokios kaltės'..." Jono 19,4-6, Biblija

Secret of the CROSS

Cross by nature is omnipresent and eternal ...

The geometric shape of the cross carries a centuries-old mystery...  Why is the symbol associated with human life - the birth of her or the end - is it a cross?..  Why should I worship a cross in one form or another can be found all over the world?..  What is this mysterious and universal sign attracted attention for thousands of years?

There is no doubt that the cross - this is not an invention of Christianity and even of antiquity. Its origin is generally not possible to relate to any one historical period or people. Great variety of crosses were a favorite motif in the art of the ancient states, as Chaldea, Phoenicia, Assyria, Egypt. And those who have portrayed this geometrical figure, apparently unknown to us gave it a sacred significance...

The second mystery of the cross - is its prevalence around the world...  In ancient Egypt it was used in the mysteries...  It can be seen carved on one of the mysterious figures of Easter Island...  In one form or another, he adorned the breasts of statues throughout Central America... The Aztecs, Mayas, Toltecs worshiped the cross ... and pre-Christian Scandinavia revered Sanskrit swastika - a cross with bent at right angles to the ends ... On the Tibetan mandalas sky depicted in the form of a cross ... and numerous Indian temples are on the basis of the cross ... This symbol is revered in Japan and China: in the languages of the peoples of the cross is a sacred hieroglyph for the number 10 ...

At a later period the cross has become the main component of the Buddhist wheel of life, of which there are eight points in the form of the original cross of the Knights Templar, in essence as being Buddhist...

Various interpretations of the symbolism of the cross can be found in the Masonic and Kabbalistic legends ... And for the Rosicrucians and alchemists cross was a symbol of light ...

And the alchemists used it to refer to the four elements, which served for the preparation of the Philosopher's stone, - salt, sulfur, mercury and nitrogen... And the Masons in their rituals conducted a search of lost words by using the cross-compass...  Finally, four of the cross is often correlated with the four main elements - earth, water, fire and air...

As a result of using cross can affect the substance of the subtle world, for example, to deal with the devil, particularly if their configuration is the cross of the Lord, that is, six or an eight. This also may explain why many people began to worship the cross before the birth of Jesus Christ...

The cross represents the unity of opposites: spirit and matter (symbolized, respectively, the three dimensions of vertical and four horizontal), male and female, of higher and lower, life and death. The death of a deity or a hero on the cross leads to a revival in the new, eternal life - this motif is reflected in the mythology of many peoples. The cross-linked with the idea of a crossroads of choice. The cross can be viewed as a cosmic symbol: its transverse beam symbolizes the horizon, vertical stand - the axis of the world, the ends of the cross represent the four cardinal points....
The cross is a symbol of the Christian faith - the scepter and the sword of God ... At the same time the figure of the cross is an object of worship of many religions around the world...

Far from immediately after the death and resurrection of Jesus the cross became a symbol of the Lord of the Christian faith, which, in spite of the cruel persecution, more and more spread through Asia Minor and southern Europe. This contributed significantly to the deeds and sufferings of the martyrs, many of whom, like Christ, finished his course of life on the cross..

In 306 AD the Roman Emperor Constantine was growing up in not quite the usual royal family: his father was a pagan and his mother, Queen Helena, a Christian. She managed to instill in his son a benevolent interest in the new religion which professed itself...

In 312 Constantine was forced to join the fight for the title of Roman emperor to challenge him captain of Maxentius.

On the eve of a decisive battle, when it became the sun, Constantine and his army saw in the sky, a huge cross with the inscription: "In this sign conquer." A night in a dream Christ appeared to Constantine and ordered to draw a cross on the banners and shields of warriors. This vision has made him such a strong impression that in the morning he hastened to fulfill the commandment of God, and ordered his soldiers to put on banners and billboards Christian monogram - the Greek letter "xi" and "ro"...

The Emperor Constantine, which was uncovered by the cross the Lord and was baptized shortly before his death, because they had always considered himself unworthy to accept this ordinance. For all that he and his mother, Queen Helena, made for the spread of Christianity, the Church canonized them to the saints...

Later, the cross of the Lord was captured by the Persians and returned only in the year 628 when the Byzantine emperor Heraclius...
The Wisdom of God - " For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void...For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.."  1 Corinthians 1:17-18, Bible

Kryžiaus paslaptis
